Executive summary
Net sales rose 5.7% year-over-year to ¥186,556 million for the six months ended September 30, 2025, but operating income fell 26.1% and net income attributable to owners dropped 37.3% due to higher SG&A, interest expenses, foreign exchange losses, and impairment losses, despite gains from investment securities sales.
Financial highlights
Gross profit increased 4.9% year-over-year to ¥61,642 million, while SG&A expenses rose 11.7% to ¥53,856 million.
Operating income was ¥7,786 million (down 26.1%), ordinary income ¥7,386 million (down 33.9%), and net income attributable to owners ¥5,695 million (down 37.3%).
Comprehensive income turned negative at ¥(3,504) million, compared to ¥22,483 million a year earlier.
Cash and cash equivalents at period-end were ¥54,039 million, down ¥21,240 million from the previous fiscal year-end.
Outlook and guidance
Full-year forecasts were revised downward: net sales now expected at ¥392,000 million (down 2.2% from previous forecast), operating income ¥16,200 million (down 26.0%), and net income attributable to owners ¥11,100 million (down 31.9%).
Takara Shuzo International Group is projected to outperform previous forecasts, while Takara Shuzo and Takara Bio Group are expected to underperform due to weak sales and market stagnation.
